This issue addresses questions and issues in jazz studies and everyday aesthetics through a broad lens that embraces a variety of experiences and a wide range of approaches and methodologies. Submissions on any treatment of jazz and everyday aesthetics are welcome, but papers addressing the following themes are especially encouraged:
- The meaning of everyday aesthetics for jazz studies
- Jazz in everyday places/spaces
- Everyday practices in jazz performance
- Race and ethnicity
- Gender and sexuality
- Everyday encounters with jazz
- Hidden histories of jazz
- The politics of jazz and everyday aesthetics
- Technology and everyday aesthetics
- Aesthetic perception and everyday life
- Everyday aesthetics and jazz historiography
Articles should not exceed 7,500 words and must comply with the general guidelines for submissions. Please submit your abstract (no more than 300 words) and a short bio (100 words) to [email protected] by Friday 6 April 2018.
The publication schedule for this issue is as follows:
- Notification of acceptance: 6 May 2018
- Draft submissions due: 1 December 2018
- Peer review comments: March 2019
- Final submission: May 2019
